FV HOSPITAL IMPLEMENTS THE QRS®-PELVICENTER SYSTEM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN VIETNAM TO SUPPORT THE TREATMENT OF URINARY INCONTINENCE AND PELVIC FLOOR DISORDERS

FV Hospital implements the QRS®-PelviCenter system for the first time in Vietnam to support the treatment of pelvic floor disorders using non-invasive, gentle, and comfortable methods.

The QRS®-PelviCenter system uses quantum resonance stimulation to target and restore the function of the pelvic floor muscles. It is beneficial to address disorders such as urinary incontinence, foecal incontinence, vaginal laxity, cystocele, rectocele, and lower back pain in women, especially postpartum mothers and older individuals. Additionally, this system can also be helpful for men dealing with erectile dysfunction.

Pelvic floor dysfunction is a common and sensitive issue among women.

Pelvic floor dysfunction occurs when the muscles and connective tissues in the pelvic floor weaken or age, leading to loss of support for the pelvic organs in their original positions. This condition is prevalent in women during and after pregnancy.

According to statistics from the Pelvic Floor Society in Ho Chi Minh City, around 50 per cent of women over the age of 40 experience pelvic floor dysfunction with symptoms of urinary incontinence. Approximately 40 per cent of women over the age of 50 suffer from pelvic floor dysfunction, presenting symptoms like uterine prolapse, cystocele, and rectocele.

In response to the essential need for treatment of pelvic floor-related disorders, FV Hospital combines experts from the Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Urology & Andrology, and Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation departments to develop comprehensive pelvic care services. Notably, FV Hospital has invested in the QRS®-PelviCenter system to support the treatment of common pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, foecal incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and back pain. This advanced medical device is an automated tool that trains and exercises pelvic floor muscles through advanced magnetic stimulation, and is widely used in the United States and Europe, offering non-invasive, gentle, and comfortable treatment for pelvic floor disorders. FV Hospital is a pioneering healthcare facility implementing QRS®-PelviCenter in Vietnam.

Treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction using a non-invasive method

QRS®-PelviCenter has a structure resembling a chair positioned over a magnetic system. The strong, uniform magnetic field can deeply penetrate the pelvic area, stimulating the surrounding nerves and training related muscles.

By modulating the activity of peripheral nerves, the QRS®-PelviCenter system is capable of reducing pain symptoms, promoting nerve healing, and enhancing motor function.

QRS®-PelviCenter is indicated for pelvic floor muscle training for common pelvic floor dysfunctions, such as:

  • Urinary incontinence: Often seen in older women, obese individuals, after childbirth, or during menopause.
  • Overactive bladder: Caused by abnormal activity of the nerves and muscles of the bladder, leading to frequent contractions and resulting in nocturia and urgency in urination.
  • Sexual dysfunction: Men with weak pelvic floor muscles may experience erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and decreased ejaculatory force. Women may experience weakened vaginal muscles and decreased blood flow to the genital area.
  • Lower back pain: Pelvic floor dysfunction affects the spinal nerves and inadequate support to the upper body, leading to back pain.
  • Foecal incontinence: The inability to control bowel movements, resulting in involuntary bowel movements.

When patients come to FV Hospital to receive treatment for pelvic floor dysfunctions, doctors will develop individual treatment protocols based on the type and severity of the condition. Depending on the severity of the dysfunction and the patient’s response, QRS®-PelviCenter may be recommended for a specific duration and may be combined with other approaches such as internal medicine or physical therapy.

“Meticulously tailored training programmes are required for each pelvic floor dysfunction, typically involving several sessions, each lasting around 20 minutes, at intervals of two to three weeks. QRS®-PelviCenter is a novel advanced method to treat various pelvic floor dysfunctions that patients can consider. The outstanding advantages are that it’s non-invasive, drug-free, doesn’t incur side effects, and is highly effective. Patients can comfortably sit on the chair during the treatment without experiencing any pain or discomfort,” shares Vo Trieu Dat, MD, MSc.

Vu Truong Son, MD, MSc, Deputy Medical Director of FV Hospital, states that FV’s leadership began considering purchasing the machine when Dr Gilles Blache, Head of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department–Breast Care Clinic, obsered his colleagues in France applying the QRS®-PelviCenter system and the numerous benefits it offered patients. Dr Blache proposed that FV invest in this system to serve patients in his department. While researching the system, they realised its potential benefits for other specialties as well. Thus, FV Hospital decided to establish a Pelvic Care Centre to serve a diverse range of patients facing pelvic floor issues.

“Vietnamese women who have given birth naturally often lack the opportunity to engage in immediate rehabilitation exercises, thus carrying the burden of pelvic floor-related injuries. Additionally, Vietnam’s population is entering the aging stage. The characteristic of the elderly, both men and women, is the aging of the pelvic floor, leading to reduced quality of life and diminished self-confidence in social interactions, freedom of movement, and enjoyment of their golden years. Instead of silently enduring ‘difficult to discuss’ issues, with access to the QRS®-PelviCenter system at FV, we hope to help them improve their quality of life,” emphasises Dr Vu Truong Son.

The newly operated QRS®-PelviCenter system has been highly appreciated by patients for its effectiveness and simplicity in treating pelvic floor-related conditions. To celebrate the launch of the first QRS®-PelviCenter system in Vietnam, FV Hospital is offering a 20 per cent discount on all pelvic floor disorder treatment packages using QRS®-PelviCenter from now until August 31, 2023.
