DR PHAN DUY THUC, US-TRAINED PSYCHIATRIST, JOINS FV HOSPITAL

Dr Phan Duy Thuc earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston in 2011. He then completed the Triple Board Residency programme at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York from 2011 to 2016, specialising in Paediatrics, General Psychiatry, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. In addition to his medical training, Dr Thuc has a technical background, holding a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston, Texas. This allows him to apply psychiatric treatment with a systems-thinking and data-science perspective.

With medical licences in New York and Texas, Dr Phan Duy Thuc is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

Before joining FV Hospital, Dr Phan Duy Thuc spent over seven years at the New York State Office of Mental Health, where he was responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing psychiatric patients, while also supervising nursing and therapeutic staff. He played a key role in implementing telepsychiatry services, expanding access to mental health care for patients in remote areas.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Thuc has contributed to research and published articles in professional journals on the impact of psychological stress on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety in adolescents.

Since February 2025, Dr Phan Duy Thuc has officially joined the Psychiatry Department at FV Hospital, specialising in the consultation and treatment of disorders such as:

  1. Anxiety disorders
  2. Depression
  3. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  4. Attention deficit hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  5. Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  6. Bipolar disorder
  7. Sleep disorders
  8. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Dr Thuc is also experienced in crisis intervention, providing support to patients during intense stress and severe psychological trauma.

After many years of service in the US healthcare system, Dr Phan Duy Thuc is excited to return to Vietnam and contribute to the development of the mental health field. He sees FV Hospital, with its internationally standardised medical environment and comprehensive care approach, as the ideal place for him to apply modern medical advancements while promoting awareness of clinical psychology, particularly in child and adolescent psychiatry.
