Breast milk is a natural food that has everything a baby needs for the healthiest start in life, which is why the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends breastfeeding a child exclusively during their first six months. Breastfeeding is also extremely beneficial for mothers.
This year, World Breastfeeding Week is 1st August to 7th August 2017. FV Hospital will organise many activities under the theme “Sustaining Breastfeeding Together” to benefit hospital staff, pregnant women and their family members.
Useful information on the benefits of breastfeeding will displayed and communicated to pregnant women receiving prenatal consultations and delivering at FV Hospital; each mother-to-be will receive a pin to commemorate their breastfeeding education. Women who deliver at FV Hospital and stay on FV’s Maternity Ward will also be given a souvenir cup for committing to breastfeeding their babies.
During World Breastfeeding Week, any midwifes or nurses who perform their assigned task to provide breastfeeding guidance to many mothers will also be awarded.
