Dr. Bertrand obtained his Medical Doctor degree from Marseille University, France, and then obtained his specialisation degree in radiation therapy, medical oncology and a certificate in advanced training in public healthcare from the same centre.
Dr. Bertrand then worked at Paoli Calmettes Institute for a total of eight years. During this period, Dr. Bertrand developed his professional knowledge regarding new radiation techniques, such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT). When working at Northern Marseille Hospital and the private Croix Rouge Cancer Centre in Toulon, France, he furthered his expertise in tomotherapy, a radiation technology.
Dr. Bertrand spent six months working as a resident doctor at National Cancer Hospital (K Hospital) in Hanoi in 2007. Dr Bertrand is an active member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and American Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ASTRO) and his areas of special interest include the treatment of a wide variety of cancers, including those of the gynecological, ENT, lung, colorectal, urological.
After years working in different oncology centres in France, Dr. Bertrand was officially appointed Head of FV Hospital’s Hy Vong Cancer Care Centre in October, 2012. Since then, Dr. Bertrand and his team at Hy Vong Cancer Care Centre have devoted their time and experience to offer highly personalised cancer treatments to patients. Along with his dedicated team members – Head of Therapeutic Radiography Sylvie Feuerle and Physicist Thibaud Salbaing, as well as therapeutic radiographers and nurses – Dr. Bertrand helps to treat thousands of patients suffering from cancer through carefully tailored radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment protocols.
