DR NGUYEN DUC NHAT, PHD, JOINS FV HOSPITAL’S CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Dr Nguyen Duc Nhat, PhD, is an experienced psychological counsellor with a Professional Counselling Licence issued in the State of Ohio, USA. His expertise lies in integrating evidence-based therapies with existential, mindfulness, and self-compassion approaches to psychological treatment. His goal is to help clients tap into their inner resources to lead a healthy and meaningful life.

As of March 2025, Dr Nguyen Duc Nhat officially joined the Clinical Psychology team at FV Hospital, strengthening the hospital’s mental health care services. He specialises in clinical psychological counselling for a wide range of issues, including post-traumatic stress, substance addiction, depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and couple and family relationships. His services are available to both adolescents and adults, and he applies a variety of psychological therapies, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions.

Dr Nguyen Duc Nhat holds a Professional Counselling License in Ohio and has extensive experience in clinical psychology. He earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Counselling from John Carroll University, Ohio, and later completed his Doctorate in Counsellor Education and Supervision at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.

As a dedicated researcher, his academic interests include the impact of gender stereotypes and biases on men’s help-seeking behaviours, the development of the psychology profession in Vietnam, and multicultural issues in mental health care. In addition, his proficiency in English-language counselling enables him to effectively support expatriate patients, eliminating language barriers in therapy.

He shares: “The journey and commitment to psychology is a long road, but my greatest aspiration remains to provide the most precise and compassionate support to those struggling in life.”

Beyond clinical practice and research, Dr Nhat brings extensive experience in corporate training and teaching clinical counselling within multicultural settings. He is also a published translator of self-development and mental health books. A strong advocate for gender equality, he actively supports marginalised communities, including the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, he is recognised as the co-founder, strategic director, clinical supervisor, and senior therapist at Touching Soul Center, a reputable psychotherapy centre in Ho Chi Minh City.
