From 12th to 13th May 2016, Edmund Wong, MMed, Senior Consultant at the General Cataract & Comprehensive Ophthalmology Department, Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), will be offering consultations and treatments at FVH’s Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Wong is a specialist in treatment for retinal conditions, such as advanced proliferative vitreoretinopathy, retinal detachment, vision loss due to diabetic complications and macular degeneration. In addition to retinal conditions, Dr. Wong is also widely recognised as an experienced specialist in treating cataracts via phacoemulsification or intraocular lens (IOL).
Dr. Wong has over 20 years of experience in his field. He obtained a Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) degree from the National University of Singapore in 1998. In the same year, he obtained a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr Wong completed his fellowship with the Vitreo-Retinal Service in Singapore National Eye Centre in 2001 and an advanced Vitreo-Retina fellowship at Beetham Eye Institute, Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School, in 2003.
Additionally, Dr. Edmund Wong also serves as a lecturer at medical schools in Singapore and other countries in the region. Much of his research has been critically acclaimed by the international medical community, including his work in paediatric retinal detachment and phacoemulsification combined with pars plana vitrectomy for complications of proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
