FV Hospital Celebrates International Nurses Day 2025: Caring for Nurses – Strengthens Economies

On the afternoon of 12 May 2025, FV Hospital hosted a special event to celebrate International Nurses Day, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering dedication of our nurses, midwives, and medical technicians – the core of the healing journey, supporting patients at every stage of care.

Caring for Nurses – A Foundation for Sustainable Healthcare and Economic Systems

This year, the International Council of Nurses (ICN) has selected the theme: “Caring for Nurses – Strengthens Economies”, highlighting that when nurses are adequately supported – physically, mentally, and through improved working conditions – the impact goes beyond individual caregivers and patients. It contributes to a more resilient, professional, and effective healthcare system, ultimately enhancing overall societal wellbeing.

At FV, this spirit is embodied in our HR policies, ongoing professional development initiatives, and a supportive work environment that fosters the holistic growth of our nursing staff. “Caring for nurses” is more than a commitment – it is the foundation for delivering high-quality patient care.

During the event, Ms Lee Poh Lian, Nursing Director, speaking on behalf of the Nursing Department, emphasised: “From physical and mental health to emotional well-being and ethical integrity, nurses face immense pressures. Issues such as workplace violence, inequitable shift assignments, or interpersonal conflicts with colleagues or patients can significantly impact their overall health – and must be addressed proactively.”

Ms Lee Poh Lian, Nursing Director, urged the nursing team to “speak up” for their rights and well-being.

Ms Pauline also encouraged nurses to “speak up” in defence of their well-being and rights, recommending practical steps such as seeking greater support from supervisors and peers, and making proactive use of psychological counselling services when needed.

On behalf of FV’s Board of Directors, Ms Phạm Thi Thanh Mai, Chief Operating Officer, shared heartfelt sentiments: “To me, nurses embody compassion, care, and the noble willingness to support others. Thank you for being present in life’s most sacred moments. I hope you continue to love your profession, and in order to stay with it long-term, I encourage each of you to find time for personal healing, to recharge, and to maintain your health and passion for this meaningful work.”

Dr Vu Truong Son, Medical Director, also extended warm wishes to all nurses, midwives, and technicians, stating: “Your dedication and professionalism are integral to every patient’s treatment journey at FV. We witness your efforts not only during complex cases but also in how you comfort, support, and empower patients through their challenges. Thank you for your quiet yet invaluable contributions.”

A Pledge from the Heart of Nursing

As part of the event, Mr Pham Minh Thi, Head Nurse of the A&E Department, proudly recited FV’s annual Nursing Pledge. This meaningful tradition serves as a solemn reminder of the nursing mission: to care for patients with compassion, uphold unwavering commitment, and continually strive for professional growth.

The event atmosphere was further enriched by emotional musical performances and engaging cross-department bonding activities. A highlight of the celebration was the poster presentation contest themed: “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for Nurses – Strengthens Economies”, which left a lasting impression through its powerful messages, creative visuals, and heartfelt presentations.

Ms Ha Dung, Patient Finance Director, presented awards to the winning teams of the poster presentation competition.

In addition to their professional expertise, FV nurses also demonstrated their artistic talents through the creative design of impressive posters.

At FV, nurses are not only equipped with professional skills but also encouraged to explore and develop their artistic talents.

In her closing remarks, Ms Lee Poh Lian reaffirmed: “A nursing workforce that is physically and mentally strong helps reduce healthcare costs, improve productivity, maintain high-quality patient care, and preserve personal and family well-being.”

On this International Nurses Day 2025, FV Hospital extends its deepest gratitude to our nurses for their heartfelt dedication, professional excellence, and unwavering passion – the foundations of a compassionate, modern, and world-class FV.
