On the 25th September 2010, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Council, part of the FIP Congress based in Istanbul, Turkey, marked the 25th September as the annual World Pharmacists Day. The purpose of celebrating this day is to advocate and promote pharmacists’ roles in their delivery of safe care for patients and the wider communities that they serve.
The theme for this year’s World Pharmacists Day is Transforming Global Health, which is very appropriate in the current climate as the world faces the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This year sees our 10th World Pharmacists Day. We aim to show how pharmacists contribute to a world where everyone benefits from access to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicine and health technology, as well as from pharmaceutical care services,” shared FIP President Dominique Jordan.
The World Pharmacist Day theme this year is an opportunity for pharmacists to share how they take care of health through a variety of public health services, including healthy lifestyle counseling, immunization, and assurance of safety medication. Such proactive approaches can lead to preventing diseases and improving a person’s quality of life. At the same time, their role also includes the development of safe and effective drugs and vaccines to protect people from diseases.
FV Hospital would like to take this opportunity to express its gratitude to all its pharmacists and sincerely thank them for their efforts and dedication. Their hard work is essential in ensuring the safe use of drugs, the correct formulation of medication as well as providing clear instructions to patients, which is key in helping improve patients health and quality of life.
