FV Staff Come Together to Celebrate World Environment Day 2025

On 5 June 2025, FV Hospital celebrated World Environment Day with the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” by promoting green living through a range of meaningful activities – from small, everyday habit changes to broader efforts in sustainable operations. This initiative reflects FV’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a green, clean, and healthy working environment, while contributing to the development of a more sustainable healthcare system. From Everyday Green Habits to Sustainable Operations From early morning, the third floor of F Building at FV Hospital was filled with green tones and positive energy. Many staff cycled to work – a healthy habit that also helps reduce emissions. Others wore green shirts and accessories, offering a subtle yet meaningful show of support for the planet.

A significant number of FV staff supported World Environment Day 2025 by commuting via bicycle or other eco-friendly means.

However, environmental protection at FV goes far beyond symbolic gestures. Over the years, the hospital has steadily implemented a range of green initiatives, including:

  • Replacing conventional plastic materials with 25 types of eco-friendly packaging.
  • Introducing colour-coded, clearly labelled waste separation to reduce hazardous waste and improve recycling efficiency.
  • Substituting harmful chemicals with environmentally safer alternatives.
  • Operating an in-house wastewater treatment system that meets environmental standards before discharge into Phu My Hung’s central system, with quarterly testing and transparent reporting. Future plans include treating water for use in hospital landscaping.
  • Applying new technologies in medical equipment and energy management, including energy-saving ceramic air filters, a Building Management System (BMS), energy-efficient elevators, energy audits, and certified devices meeting standards such as ISO 14001, RoHS, REACH, etc.

Small Actions, Big Impact – FV Staff Promote Environmental Awareness The “Green” Workshop, held from 12:00 to 13:00, drew a strong turnout of engaged participants. Discussions focused on sustainable practices in healthcare – covering everything from operational systems and energy-saving technologies to eco-friendly MRI solutions. FV department heads, along with experts from Siemens Healthineers, shared practical insights, reinforcing the message that environmental protection doesn’t begin elsewhere – it starts with the choices we make each day at the hospital.

The “Green” Workshop featured engaging talks from FV experts and Siemens Healthineers, providing fresh perspectives on environmental protection.

Mr Nguyen Quoc Viet, Building Maintenance Manager at FV Hospital, shared: “If every staff member pays a little more attention to electricity and water use, we can save a lot and help build a greener FV.” More than 50% of the hospital’s electricity consumption comes from the building’s cooling and lighting systems. While technical control measures are already in place, Mr Viet emphasized that individual awareness and effort are essential to cutting resource use and advancing FV’s sustainability goals.

An engaging session that encouraged learning and participation.

In the afternoon, the “Succulent Planting – Bringing Green to the Workspace” activity attracted a large crowd. Each attendee planted a small succulent to keep at their desk – a symbol of unity in creating a greener space for the community.

The “Succulent Planting” activity was a standout moment of World Environment Day 2025, reflecting FV’s collective spirit to create green spaces for the community.

At the lush Terrace Garden, the Green Wall became a popular photo spot. Staff enthusiastically shared green-themed photos and messages across social media and FV’s internal channels – a reflection of the collective commitment to a green, clean, and healthy working environment.

FV also set up a “Green Wall” photo spot, encouraging staff to check in and spread the spirit of living “Green, Clean, and Healthy.”

World Environment Day 2025 at FV was more than just a celebration – it was part of FV’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development. Looking ahead, the hospital will continue to promote green living at every level, from system-wide operations to individual actions, contributing to a healthier future for both the community and the planet.
