FV Supports World Breastfeeding Week 2025 – “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems”

World Breastfeeding Week, 1–7 August 2025, is a time to recognise the profound journey of motherhood and emphasise the essential role of breast milk in a child’s healthy development. With the theme “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems”, the World Health Organization (WHO) calls on healthcare systems, organisations, and communities to unite in supporting, protecting, and promoting breastfeeding.

At FV Hospital, we believe that supporting breastfeeding is an investment in a healthier future generation. As the first international general hospital in Vietnam to be accredited four consecutive times by the Joint Commission International (JCI), FV remains committed to patient-centred care, particularly for mothers and newborns. FV is also proud to be one of the few facilities in Ho Chi Minh City certified as a “Mother-and-Baby-Friendly” hospital under the WHO and UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI).

Beyond delivering high-quality obstetric care, FV Hospital has developed a comprehensive support system to accompany mothers on their breastfeeding journey. Beginning in the antenatal stage, expectant mothers receive early counselling on the benefits of breastfeeding and are equipped with essential knowledge and techniques. Immediately after birth, our nurses and midwives provide guidance on proper breastfeeding positions, promote skin-to-skin contact, and encourage early initiation of breastfeeding. Common challenges such as cracked nipples, blocked milk ducts, and breast pain are closely monitored and promptly addressed by our team of obstetricians and lactation consultants. Throughout the breastfeeding period, mothers have access to regular breast examinations and effective treatment for conditions such as mastitis, breast abscesses, or benign breast tumours.

In support of World Breastfeeding Week 2025, FV Hospital continues to enhance its education, counselling, and treatment activities related to breastfeeding. At the same time, we remain dedicated to fostering a respectful, mother-friendly medical environment that encourages long-term, sustainable breastfeeding practices.

Breastfeeding is not only a natural choice but also a strategic investment in public health, cognitive development, economic growth, and the future of every child. FV Hospital is proud to support mothers on this meaningful journey with unwavering dedication and international medical standards.

At FV, we believe that no mother should walk the path of motherhood alone – behind every mother is a strong, supportive system.
