Since being put into operation in May 2018, FV Hospital’s very own Interventional Catheterisation Laboratory (Cathlab) has supported doctors and cardiologists in successfully treating nearly 500 emergency cases and interventions for cardiovascular diseases. Such treatment procedures have included; coronary stent placement, cardiac catheterisation, atrial septal implantation, pacemaker implants, coronary angiography, angiography, and electrophysiological investigations and ablations.
The Cathlab uses a state-of-the-art, multi-functional Philips DSA system to implement Computerized Tomography (CT) scans and interventions to the heart, brain and the body’s whole blood vessel system. This technology has been quoted by FV’s doctors to be a “powerful arm” in assisting specialists in providing comprehensive treatment and care for patients. Now, being all in one location, this makes FV the optimal choice in the screening and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
The new Cathlab is a great addition to FV’s already well equipped Cardiology Department. Other modern technology used to provide the very best care include; GE Vivid 3 Echocardiography, Holter Echocardiography, Marquette Stress Testing System, 24-hour Blood Pressure Monitoring (MAPA) System, as well as 256-layer MSCT Scanners, among others. This coupled with a team of highly qualified cardiologists ensures that the Department is fully prepared to provide advanced diagnostic and treatment services on a large scale, and provide emergency treatment, 24/7. It also grants the Department the ability to apply comprehensive treatment methods at all stages from prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment to rehabilitation.
