Each October, communities around the world come together for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also known as Pink October. This year, Hy Vong Cancer Care Centre embraced the spirit by hosting an in-house event to promote breast cancer awareness and emphasise the importance of early screening.
To spotlight breast cancer and boost awareness, Hy Vong Cancer Care Centre staff dressed in pink on October 25, sharing photos to spread a message of support for patients and the community. Team members also incorporated pink ribbon symbols and decorations, transforming the Centre’s space into a source of positive inspiration for all who visit.
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer globally, with approximately 2.3 million new cases annually. It accounts for about 1 in 8 cancer diagnoses in both men and women and about 1 in 4 among women. Importantly, breast cancer can be treated effectively if detected early. At Hy Vong, activities go beyond decorating or wearing pink; they are designed to emphasise the critical importance of breast cancer screening.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) highlights lack of awareness, such as the misconception that breast cancer only occurs in women, and a reluctance toward health check-ups contribute to many late-stage diagnoses. At Hy Vong Cancer Care Centre, doctors and specialists hope that through activities during Pink October, everyone, especially women, will recognise the importance of regular screenings, thereby promoting proactive health care.
As one of the leading cancer treatment centers in Vietnam, Hy Vong is actively involved in raising awareness and preventing breast cancer, as well as other types of cancer. Proactive screening and attention to personal health play a significant role in the effectiveness of future treatments. Early screening remains the key to successful cancer care.

Pink October is a global breast cancer awareness campaign held every October, dedicated to promoting screening and early detection to reduce mortality rates. Since its inception in 1985, Pink October has become a powerful symbol of solidarity and support for those fighting breast cancer. Throughout the campaign, various organisations often hold fundraising events and educational programs to convey the importance of regular health check-ups and early screening. |
