Over more than six years of accompanying the Paediatrics Ward at FV, Ms Truc Mai has become a nurse in the true “FV style”. The initial days were fraught with challenges related to procedures and culture, which were somewhat different from other hospitals. However, her experience as a nurse in paediatric intensive care, coupled with her desire to work in an international environment, helped her overcome the initial difficulties.

For Ms Mai, nursing in the Paediatrics Ward poses many challenges. Carefulness and meticulousness are essential qualities that help her navigate difficult situations. She shares, “I think I am quite empathetic with the patients’ families. When I see a child in pain, I feel sorrow and care for them as I would my own children.” It is said that caring for paediatric patients as if they were her own children and sharing with their families as friends is something that comes naturally from this Shining Star of the month.

This spirit has helped Ms Mai develop her skills and experience in her work. More importantly, the joy from her kind actions is always a precious gift she receives. Many children and mothers, when they return to FV Hospital, do not forget the beloved nurse who took care of them in the past. This beauty is something that not many jobs can bring.

Ms Truc Mai always thinks that a paediatric nurse is similar to a kindergarten teacher, in terms of the affection for children and the desire to bring them the best. “Perhaps everyone who chooses this job loves children. Administering an injection or setting up an IV line without the child crying or feeling pain can bring joy to me,” she said.

Nursing also brings many useful skills, helping her care better for her children and relatives. This advantage adds to the appeal of the job. Her daily efforts to learn and improve herself not only helps her support the paediatric patients but also prepare her for many situations in life.
