Closing out a year of hard work and dedication at FV Hospital, Ms Nguyen Thi Diem Kieu. a Nurse in the Chemotherapy Unit, has been awarded the final Shining Star award of 2024. This well-deserved recognition marks her remarkable contributions during her 10-year journey with FV, reflecting her growth and unwavering dedication.

Reflecting on her early days at FV, Ms Kieu shared: “At first, I felt quite pressured because the modern international environment was very different from the places I had interned. But the support from my colleagues and the fair working environment helped me quickly integrate and realise that this was a place where I could build a long-term career.” From a young nurse eager to take on the challenge of an “international hospital” environment, Ms Kieu has grown and is determined to continue developing her career at FV.

In her reflection, Ms Kieu described the Internal Medicine Department, primarily serving cancer patients, as more than a workplace, but as a family story. It is where she invests her heart and soul, focusing on the “main characters” – the patients, rarely speaking of herself. “Patients here often carry a heavy emotional burden, sometimes even despair. I not only care for them medically but also walk with them through their mental and emotional challenges,” she shared.

One of the cherished memories Ms Kieu shared was caring for a foreign patient who required long-term treatment and always requested her specific care. “Later, when the patient recovered, they would often come by to visit and thank me. That made me realise how meaningful my job is,” she said with a gentle smile. Moments like these help Ms Kieu see that, despite the occasional stress, the trust and gratitude of her patients are her greatest motivation.

Over her 10-year journey, Ms Kieu has faced various life challenges, and there were moments when she considered changing careers. However, the warmth from the support of her colleagues, opportunities for growth, and prospects for career advancement gradually encouraged her to find balance between her work and life. At FV – her big family – Ms Kieu has also built her own small family. These may be the meaningful rewards for her wholehearted dedication and love for her work, a touching reciprocation of life.
