Entering the 7^th year of working at FV Hospital, with 3 nominations for the award FV Shining Star, Ms Dinh Thi Quynh Mai (Interpreter – Korean) believes that her efforts have been recognised. In her 3^rd nomination, great effort with a little luck helped her become the first Shining Star in 2022.

Quynh Mai shared: “In the previous nominations, perhaps I did not fully meet the evaluation criteria. But because of that, I thought I would try harder.” The employees nominated for the FV Shining Star award are excellent individuals in their work and in their relationship with colleagues and patients. Therefore, if a nominee achieves a Shining Star, there is just a little difference with other nominations, sometimes, maybe it’s just down to luck.

Having gained experience working in different units and fields, Quynh Mai thinks it is a blessing that she has spent many years working with FV. Partly, the environment makes her love the work, partly she can develop herself at FV. “My job as an interpreter at the hospital gives me something new to learn every day, from improving my language skill to interacting skill,” added Quynh Mai.

Currently, interpreters at FV hospital can use many tools and references to support their work more smoothly. However, Quynh Mai believes that in order to support patients and doctors in the best way, it is necessary to have base medical knowledge, so that in urgent cases, they can support and solve the problem or give emergency assistance. Due to the multilingual nature of the international hospital, doctors and nurses all understand the importance of interpretation. “Therefore, I can learn more medical knowledge and receive responsive support from the doctors and nurses,” Quynh Mai shared.

After many years working at FV, Quynh Mai keeps one thing in mind: many people, especially patients, when they feel angry when they are experiencing physical or psychological discomfort. At those times, if I can empathise with this, I will not be swept up in their discomfort, but I will try to help them get out of it. This skill provides a peaceful mood for the patient. It is also an important attitude for everyone working in a medical environment.

From that basis it has led to many new experience in life, FV gradually became a joyful workplace for Ms Dinh Thi Quynh Mai.
