In a coincidence with the previous year, a nurse at the Outpatient Department (OPD) once again sparks the FV Shining Star Award for 2024. Ms Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy is a nurse with humbleness yet full of enthusiasm for her work and is an outstanding representative of the OPD team.

Like all nurses in the Outpatient Department, Ms Thuy believes that this award is recognition for the entire OPD team, not just herself. This strongly reflects the team spirit and strong collaboration of the nursing team at FV. Despite having worked at FV for over 12 years, Ms Thuy still shares the joy and surprise of being honoured with this recognition.

Ms Phuong Thuy told us that since joining FV, she has embarked on a professional journey and has had the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills. “FV provides a medical environment that suits my aspirations, so I have been able to engage with the hospital for so long.,” Similarly to many nurses who have come to work at FV, initially, Ms Thuy also faced some stress and effort to grasp the different working procedures here. However, these differences have also helped her find things she loves about FV.

In addition to the satisfaction of working in a modern healthcare environment and being part of a sustainable and joyful team, in her 12 years of service, the benefits from medical knowledge, from patient experiences, have positively influenced her and her family’s life. Ms Thuy recalled: “Previously and during the COVID pandemic, I firmly believed in the knowledge learnt from FV and applied it to take care of my family.” It is known that during the COVID-19 pandemic, she was one of the nurses constantly working at the sample collection containers.

Recently, Ms Thuy has been entrusted with an additional challenge, which is to support the coordination of the nursing team under the ‘Healthcare at home’ services. This new position may create some challenges around the management process, but the core nature of the job – to care – remains the consistency between ‘hospital’ and ‘home’. Of course, to achieve that, it not only requires the skills of nurses but as Ms Thuy believes, “dedication to patients and the job is very important”.
