FV Shining Star of July 2023, Nguyen Minh Duc (Biomedical Engineer – Biomedical Department), gets along well with all his colleagues. At his award ceremony, Mr Monojit Mitra (Facility and Biomedical Director) shared many compliments for Minh Duc.

Moving from a medical equipment company to a hospital has brought Minh Duc many interesting experiences. At FV, there is not a limited to certain types and models of machines that the company mainly provides, there are many specialties, with each departments having different and diverse facilities. “I felt like I had to learn from scratch, again. Although it was difficult, it was also a great opportunity to grow myself”, Duc shared.

Minh Duc’s work focuses mainly in the Operating Theatre and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) areas. Duc said: “The most difficult thing in my job is how to ensure the minimum duration that equipment and machinery is damaged”. Therefore, his working hours sometimes not fixed. Although all equipment has a maintenance schedule, it is very difficult to completely eliminate machinery failures. It’s essential to have a quick response from biomedical engineers; as long as there is a problem with specialist machines such as in the ICU or the Operating Room.

Mr Monojit Mitra especially emphasised Duc’s progressive attitude, when he proactively requested to be arranged to work in the ICU and Operating areas. Furthermore, Mr Monojit also expressed his admiration to Duc as he tried to take more workload when the Department had staffing problems and at other difficult times. “I have received many compliments from colleagues for Minh Duc. Thank you very much for your effort, Duc”, Mr Monojit shared during the FV Shining Star award ceremony.

Duc believes that even the smallest thing he does can be a great opportunity to learn and bring useful knowledge. This attitude made him an enthusiastic and fearless staff member. Duc said that after starting work at FV, he tried to move closer to the hospital, so that he could provide support as soon as possible. For Duc, FV is currently one of the best working environments to practice and grow, so he greatly appreciates this opportunity.

Similar to interventional cardiologists or neurologists, Duc’s work shares the similar level of urgency, seriousness and responsibility. He is doing his job impressively well. We wish the FV Shining Star of July 2023 will always maintain enthusiasm for his meaningful work, and hope that he will continue to develop and have more opportunities to advance in his career with FV.
