FV’s Shining Star for March 2025, Ms Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, is a familiar face in the Ophthalmology & Refractive Surgery Department. A dedicated medical secretary, Ms Trang has been with the hospital for over seven years. Known for her deep love for her work and a wholehearted commitment to her role, she is a trusted partner to doctors and a compassionate presence for the many patients she supports.
Graduating with a degree in Law, Ms Trang began her career in the legal field before making a career shift to healthcare – a decision that marked the start of an emotional and fulfilling journey. “I feel like I chose the right place to dedicate myself,” she shared, noting that each day at FV gives her the opportunity to support others, something that brings her a strong sense of purpose.
Ms Trang joined the Ophthalmology Department in 2018 and has remained committed to this specialty ever since. While she once considered exploring other departments, the unique nature of ophthalmology, with its emphasis on long-term patient care, has made her an invaluable member of the team. “Once you understand your patients well and get used to the doctors’ working style, everything flows more smoothly, and patients also feel more at ease,” she shared.
For Ms Trang, every patient has a story. Some bring laughter, others leave her silent or move her to tears, especially the young patients supported by the Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund. As a mother, she finds it heartbreaking to witness a child undergo five or six eye surgeries. Yet, it is these deeply human moments that keep her grounded in her work, patiently and persistently.
Dr Nguyen Thi Mai from the Ophthalmology & Refractive Surgery Department describes Ms Trang as someone who naturally inspires trust, “a devoted team member who never hesitates to go the extra mile and always strives for the best outcome for her patients.” Whether staying late to assist after surgery or supporting patients outside regular hours, Ms Trang quietly ensures that every task is completed with care. “I just want to make sure patients have all the information they need and feel truly cared for – just like how we’d care for a family member,” she said with a smile.
One person cannot live many lives, but through her patients, Ms Trang feels she has experienced countless perspectives. “Many of these experiences have motivated me to live more positively, more meaningfully, and to appreciate everything around me,” she shared. “I’m grateful for the job I chose – it has allowed me to create value for those around me.”
FV’s Shining Star of March 2025, Ms Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, exemplifies the values of dedication, patience, and compassion in patient care. This recognition is a well-deserved acknowledgement of her quiet yet meaningful contributions, which bring comfort and reassurance to many within the Ophthalmology Department. We wish her continued fulfilment in her work and hope she continues to be a valued source of support to both patients and colleagues
