On the morning of November 29, 2024, the SNA Health Day was held at the International School of North America (SNA) in Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, with over 120 students and parents participating. This free health check-up programme, organised by FV Hospital in collaboration with the ACC Chiropractic Clinic, aimed to help the school and parents proactively care for the students’ health.
More than 70 students from various grade levels at SNA received medical check-ups and consultations on campus. The medical teams from FV Hospital and ACC Clinic provided a range of services, including eye exams, screening for amblyopia and refractive errors, dental care, flat feet and scoliosis assessments, as well as in-body analysis and nutritional counselling.
Ms Dung, a parent from District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, with two children studying at SNA, shared, “This programme is very meaningful and has changed my perspective. Moving forward, I will schedule regular health check-ups for my kids to take a more proactive approach in their care.” She also praised the doctors for providing detailed consultations on nutrition, dental, and eye care, answering all her questions with great attention. She plans to take her children to FV Hospital for consultation soon.
In addition to the health screenings, the event was marked by a lively atmosphere and the dedication of the medical team. Beyond comprehensive check-ups, students had the opportunity to interact with their peers in a fun space and received small, delightful gifts after completing their examinations.
Another parent, Ms Quyen from District 7, expressed her satisfaction: “I have three kids, so it’s not always easy to arrange regular health check-ups for all of them at once. This programme has given me valuable insights into my children’s health, allowing me to take a more proactive approach to their care.” Many parents shared that they usually take their children for check-ups only when symptoms arise, which can make it challenging to identify underlying issues such as dental misalignment, jaw development disorders, refractive eye conditions, or nutritional imbalances.
Nguyen Thanh Tung, MD, PhD, Head of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery – Dental Surgery department at FV Hospital, who participated in the event, emphasized the importance of parents seeking medical advice if they suspect any health issues with their children. He encouraged early consultations and referrals for follow-up and treatment to ensure proper care.
“School health screenings are a vital foundation for the comprehensive development of children. Through this programme, we hope to have provided many parents with better care strategies for their children, fostering peace of mind for families,” Dr Tung shared.
The SNA Health Day was not only a community health initiative but also a bridge connecting parents, schools, and medical professionals. FV Hospital hopes that the programme has provided practical benefits while also inspiring a proactive and holistic approach to school health care.
