Modern medicine brings hope for patients who were once diagnosed with what was considered a “death sentence.” More and more patients are facing and fighting against this disease. The journey to overcome “cancer,” which was once considered a death sentence, is not easy. Besides believing in themselves, patients also need the support of a team of doctors and family.
The case of Ms Nguyen Thi Lan (56-year-old) from Ho Chi Minh City, is one of the typical stories. Over three years ago, when she discovered that she had cancer, she was completely devastated. She decided to hide the truth from her family, locking herself in a room and silently accepting her “death sentence.”
Fortunately, her family discovered the situation early and made every effort to lift Ms Lan’s spirits. With the support of Ms Lan’s sister, she gradually unlocked the invisible barrier separating her from everyone else. She decided to embark on the journey to fight against the disease.
The doctor directly responsible for Lan’s treatment is Dr Basma M’Barek, Head of the Hy Vong Cancer Care Centre at FV Hospital. Thanks to careful and detailed consultation about the cancer treatment regimen, as well as the doctor’s empathy and compassion, Ms Lan gained more confidence in the progress of medical science.
“Trust your doctor! If you trust them, they will do everything to find a way to cure you,” Ms Lan succinctly summarized her experience in overcoming cancer.
