With the development of information technology, people are able to communicate easily with very high visual and sound standards using smart mobile devices. As a result we have witnessed the internet expanding more and more into many fields of peoples’ lives, including in healthcare services. Understanding the benefits, in July, 2020, FV Hospital will look to implement its own Telemedicine service. This healthcare service will seek to support people who have busy schedules, or those who have difficulty in walking or using transportation.
FV’s Telemedicine service is designed to support many cases effectively, especially for chronic medical conditions which need to be monitored frequently. These include; high blood pressure, diabetes, cardio diseases, nutrition, chronic pain, among others. Doctors will be able to connect with patients directly via internet devices, such as laptops or smartphones, using the following video call apps; Skype, Zalo and Viber. Through such video calls, FV’s doctors can study, diagnose and consult for treatment while the patient is in the comfort of their own home. If necessary, patients will be able to arrange vital sign checking services and undergo sample tests (blood or urine) at home. FV’s team of nurses will support patients in the collection of samples to undergo such tests. The results of which and/or medical reports will be provided to the patient quickly by the doctors over the phone, or via mail to the patient’s home address or their registered email. In the case that the patient requires a translator or would like their relatives to participate in the teleconsultation, they must inform FV’s medical secretaries prior for arrangement.
In addition, if patients are in need of medication, FV’s Pharmacy is fully equipped to deliver them directly to the their home.
The price of a Telemedicine service comes at no extra cost, being the same compared to a face-to-face consultation. The testing services and medicine delivery are based on the hospital’s price lists, and an additional cost would only be placed when patients require tests to be performed at home or would like a home delivery of medication.
The steps to use FV’s Telemedicine service are as follows:
- Step 1: To book an appointment, patients should call 028 5411 3333 or 0962 627 826. Alternatively, they can also book here.
- Step 2: FV staff will instruct patients on the process to connect online with the service, consultation fees and payment methods.
- Step 3: Once payment is confirmed, staff at FV will set up a call according to the appointment schedule.
- Step 4: Patients will receive a home delivery of their medical reports and medication (if any).
FV’s Telemedicine service is available from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and Saturday, 08:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The medical consultation process will be carried out in a methodical and confidential way between doctors and patients via modern technology. In the near future, FV Hospital will continue to develop and expand its Telemedicine service for many other specialities to help the community easily access the highest quality healthcare services.
FV’s Telemedicine service can help patients by detecting symptoms early and monitoring chronic diseases, with the benefits of saving time and transportation costs.
