SPEAKER PROFILE
VO TRIEU DAT, MD, MSC – HEAD OF OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY DEPARTMENT – BREAST CARE CLINIC, FV HOSPITAL
Dr Vo Trieu Dat graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City in 2005 and earned his Master’s Degree in Medicine in 2010. After gaining valuable experience at Hung Vuong Hospital, he joined FV Hospital in 2009 and undertook advanced training at Beaujon Hospital in France from 2015 to 2016. In 2017, he served as Head of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department at Vinmec Hospital in Nha Trang before returning to FV in 2018 to continue his contribution.
Dr Dat currently serves as Head Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department. Before that, Dr Vo Trieu Dat served as Deputy Head and Acting Head of Department at various times. With his comprehensive development in both expertise and leadership, Dr Dat has become one of the leading specialists at FV Hospital.
Under Dr Dat’s leadership, the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department is prioritising advancements in treatment techniques while expanding specialised services, including breast disease surgery and high-risk pregnancy management. Notable initiatives include the implementation of the QRS-PelviCenter pelvic floor training and education system and the upcoming introduction of a “Water labour” service. This innovative service will be among the first in Vietnam, offering mothers a natural method of pain relief during childbirth without the need for epidural anaesthesia.
With his dedication and expertise, Dr Vo Trieu Dat has gained the trust and admiration of both colleagues and patients. SPECIALIST LEVEL II, NGUYEN VIET QUYNH THU, MD, MSC, HEAD OF NUTRITION & DIETETICS DEPARTMENT, FV HOSPITAL
Specialist Level II, Nguyen Viet Quynh Thu, MD, MSc, graduated as a General Doctor from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City in 1999. Following that, Dr Quynh Thu received a Specialisation Degree Level I in Internal Medicine in 2007 and a Specialisation Degree Level II in Internal Medicine in 2011 from Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. She received a Master’s degree in Nutrition from Women’s University of Japan in 2008 and a Diploma in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism of ESPEN in 2019. Doctor Quynh Thu has also participated in many specialised training courses domestically and abroad such as the Total Nutrition Therapy in Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia; Advanced Clinical Nutrition, and Nutrition Support Team in Japan and LLL ESPEN courses held in Denmark, Poland, Spain, Philippines and Vietnam.
Dr Quynh Thu has more than 15 years of experience in the ¬eld of Clinical Nutrition in medical treatment; specially, she was the Head of the Nutrition Department of Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital and has been managing the Nutrition Department for over 10 years. Besides, Doctor Quynh Thu also participated in examination and treatment at some important specialties such as Gastroenterology (2000 – 2005), Endocrinology (2005 – 2006) and Endocrinology (2006 – 2015) at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital. Doctor Quynh Thu has officially worked at FV Hospital since February 2016, as the only Senior Treatment Doctor, Department of Clinical Nutrition. Then, Doctor Quynh Thu held the position of Head of Nutrition & Dietetics Unit, FV Hospital from 2017 to 2021 and from May 2021, Doctor Nguyen Viet Quynh Thu was officially appointed as Head of Nutrition and Dietetics Department at FV Hospital. Currently, Doctor Quynh Thu also holds the position of Vice President of the Vietnam Dietetics Association (VDA).
In addition to professional work at the department, Dr Thu regularly organises and teaches clinical nutrition training classes for medical staff, participates in setting up nutritional treatment forms and protocols in the hospital. Dr Quynh Thu also actively communicates and educates on nutrition through patient and community clubs, participates in television programs on nutrition counselling, writes articles on nutrition topics.
MRS CATHERINE COUSIN, PHD-DPMR-DPT-PT – HEAD OF PHYSIOTHERAPY & REHABILITATION, FV HOSPITAL
Mrs Catherine COUSIN is an experienced French therapist who has dedicated over 40 years to the Public, Private and Non-Governmental Organisations in the Health & Rehabilitation sectors.
Graduate as a Physiotherapist from France in her early 20s, Ms Catherine COUSIN, demonstrated a great interest in researching the perceptive body’s role in maintaining health and taking joy in its full body’s mobility. She continuously pursued medical education throughout her career, obtaining numerous advanced certifications in Fasciatherapy & Pulsology, lymphatic drainage, and ergonomics. Later, she earned a Ph.D. in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
In 2007, Mrs Catherine COUSIN endorsed the Head of the Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Department position at FV Hospital- Hochiminh City, bringing her extensive expertise in rehabilitation to FV Patients and their Families. Under her leadership, the department, composed of physiotherapists and osteopaths, provides innovative, comprehensive and top-notch functional rehabilitation services that cater to the diverse needs of patients, including critical and non-critical care, pre or post-operative condition, women’s health, spine and pelvic health, newborn and child growth postural disorders, musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation.
In Vietnam, Mrs Catherine COUSIN’s journey began in 1996 in the prestigious maternities Phu San Tu Du Hospital and Hung Vuong Hospital. There, she not only provided care to babies and pioneered the first neonatal physiotherapy programmes in Vietnam, but she also learned from her colleagues, mums and grandma about the Vietnamese culture of nurturing and bonding with children. She then developed and coordinated community rehabilitation-based projects for disabled children in the south and centre of Vietnam, empowering women in their physical health, which helps foster their families’ health, well-being and active lifestyles.
TRAN THI THANH TRANG, HEAD MIDWIFE – OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY DEPARTMENT – BREAST CARE CLINIC, FV HOSPITAL
With over 30 years of experience in midwifery, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Trang is one of the most experienced and dedicated professionals in maternity care at FV Hospital. She currently serves as the Head Midwife of the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department at FV Hospital, where she has spent more than a decade building and developing the department according to international standards.
Graduating with a degree in Midwifery from Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine in 1993, Ms. Trang continued to enhance her expertise and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Hong Bang International University in 2016. Alongside advancing her professional knowledge, she has also participated in numerous training programs both domestically and internationally. She holds a Bachelor of Science in English Literature (2000), graduated as valedictorian in Medical Secretary at Hoa Sen University (2007), completed the Middle Management course at PACE Institute (2012), and the Nursing Management Course 6 at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine (2015). Notably, she participated in a clinical training program on Obstetric Nursing at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore, in 2016. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Hospital Administration at the Hanoi University of Public Health.
Before joining FV, Ms. Trang spent 10 years working at Hung Vuong Hospital, where she gained extensive experience in obstetric emergencies, patient admission, and pregnancy management. Since 2003, she has dedicated 22 years to FV Hospital, continuously learning and adapting to the international healthcare environment. She has developed multilingual communication skills (English and French), implemented comprehensive patient care standards following HIS and JCI guidelines, and refined her management expertise.
In 2015, the FV Hospital’s Board of Directors entrusted her with the role of Head Midwife of the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department. With deep dedication, a profound love for her profession, and unwavering commitment, she considers the Department as her second home and remains devoted to providing high-quality care for mothers and newborns.
