Elderly oftens face many health challenges, particularly issues related to nutrition and musculoskeletal health such as degeneration, osteoporosis and spinal pain. With the aim of providing comprehensive support and solutions, FV Hospital is hosting a public seminar: “Healthy ageing – Nutrition and Musculoskeletal Healthcare Strategies for Elderly”, promoting a healthier senior community that can live joyfully and confidently.
The seminar is designed for patients, caregivers and the elderly community, offering valuable knowledge, updates on modern healthcare approaches and opportunities for direct interaction with FV doctors and nutrition experts.

SPEAKERS PROFILE:
Specialist Level II, Nguyen Viet Quynh Thu, MD, MSC – Head of Dietetics & Nutrition, FV Hospital, Vice President of the Vietnam Dietetic Association (2019–2024)
Dr Nguyen Viet Quynh Thu graduated in General Medicine from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, in 1999. She subsequently earned her Specialist Level 1 in Internal Medicine in 2007 and Specialist Level 2 in Internal Medicine in 2011 at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. She also holds a Master’s degree in Nutrition from Japan Women’s University (2008) and a European Master’s in Clinical and Metabolic Nutrition (2019).
Dr Quynh Thu has participated in numerous specialised training courses both domestically and internationally, including Parenteral Nutrition Therapy in Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia; Clinical Nutrition and Nutrition Support Teams in Japan; and the LLL ESPEN programme in Denmark, Poland, Spain, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
With over 20 years of experience in clinical nutrition for internal medicine, Dr Quynh Thu previously served as Head of the Nutrition Department at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, managing the department for over 15 years. She also gained clinical experience in several key specialties, including Gastroenterology (2000–2005), Nephrology (2005–2006), and Endocrinology (2006–2015) at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital.
Dr Quynh Thu joined FV Hospital in February 2016 as a Senior Doctor in Clinical Nutrition. She became Head of Nutrition & Dietetics Unit in 2017 and was appointed Head of Dietetics & Nutrition at FV Hospital in May 2021. She also serves as Vice President of the Vietnam Dietetic Association (VDA) from 2019 to 2024.
Beyond her clinical duties, Dr Quynh Thu regularly organises and teaches clinical nutrition training courses for healthcare staff, develops hospital nutrition protocols and forms, and actively engages in public health education. She frequently participates in patient clubs, community health initiatives, television programmes on nutrition advice, and publishes articles on nutrition-related topics.
Dr Nguyen Thi Kim Huong, Specialist II – Rheumatology Unit, Internal Medicine Department, FV Hospital
Dr Nguyen Thi Kim Huong currently works in Rheumatology Unit, Internal Medicine Department at FV Hospital. She holds a Specialist Level II qualification with a focus on musculoskeletal medicine, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of common conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, spinal pain, and other musculoskeletal disorders.
Throughout her career, Dr Huong has gained extensive experience managing cases ranging from mild to complex, combining medical treatment with lifestyle guidance and rehabilitation to help patients control symptoms, improve mobility, and reduce long-term complications.
In addition to clinical care, Dr Huong emphasises patient education on prevention, nutrition, and exercise tailored to each stage of the condition, particularly for older adults and patients with chronic diseases.
Dedicated to her specialty, Dr Nguyen Thi Kim Huong is an integral member of FV Hospital’s medical team, providing patients with evidence-based, up-to-date treatment solutions and ongoing support in musculoskeletal health.
Dr Do Thanh Long, Specialist I – Geriatrics Department, FV Hospital
Dr Do Thanh Long is a specialist in geriatric healthcare with over 20 years of experience and is recognised as one of the leading experts in cardiology and geriatrics. He currently works in the Cardiology & Interventional Cardiology Department at FV Hospital.
Since completing his Specialist Level I in Geriatrics at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City in 2006, Dr Long has developed a comprehensive approach tailored for older adults, who often present with multiple complex conditions simultaneously. He has gained extensive experience working at major hospitals including Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, Can Tho Central General Hospital, and in emergency care departments.
Dr Long is highly skilled in both diagnosis and treatment, with proven expertise in managing urgent cases. He has successfully performed hundreds of interventional cardiology procedures at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital and FV Hospital, demonstrating strong clinical competence. His combination of broad clinical experience and in-depth geriatric knowledge enables him to provide comprehensive care for older patients.
In addition to medical and interventional treatments, Dr Long emphasises lifestyle guidance, nutrition, and complication prevention to help patients stabilise their health and improve quality of life. He provides specialised consultations on emergency conditions, cardiovascular disease, stroke, and common health issues in older adults.
