On 22 November, rugby fans in Ho Chi Minh City gathered for a special community sports event, the Rugby Legends Game. Organised by the social enterprise Rugby Cùng Nhau in partnership with the French Flair Rugby Association, the event received dedicated medical support from FV Hospital.

The sporting event also received strong backing from the Embassy of France in Vietnam and the Consulate General of France in Ho Chi Minh City. Notably, a representative from the Consulate General of Japan was also in attendance, further underscoring the international and friendly spirit of the programme.

The Rugby Legends Game consisted of two main parts, each filled with meaningful, community-focused activities. A key highlight was a special rugby experience session for Vietnamese children and disadvantaged youth. Through this training activity, participants were introduced to the core values of rugby, a sport built on teamwork and resilience. The programme also offered many Vietnamese spectators a rare opportunity to learn more about rugby, which is still relatively new in Vietnam.

The highlight of the afternoon was a series of friendly matches featuring more than 35 former professional rugby players from France and Japan. Among them were renowned former national stars such as Francois Trinh-Duc, Takushi Kikutani, and Olivier Brouzet. FV Hospital’s CEO, Dr Jean-Marcel Guillon, also took part, further strengthening FV’s connection to the event.

Beyond sports and cultural exchange, the event also had a meaningful purpose: proceeds from items sold on the day were used to raise funds to support disadvantaged children.
