Among private hospitals, FV achieved a score of 4.83/5, ranking first

According to the assessment of the professional council, FV’s pharmaceutical system meets the highest standards across almost all criteria, particularly in its comprehensive medication management processes and proactive control of antibiotic use within the hospital.

Patients are always thoroughly counselled when purchasing medications at FV Hospital

The FV Pharmacy Department operates in accordance with the Vietnamese MOH and DOH regulations, Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, and best practices in medication safety spanning the entire medication management system in a closed-loop approach. It provides an oversight at each and all medication management processes from formulary management, vendor selection, procurement and storage, prescription review, drug distribution, preparation and compounding, administration to monitoring drug effectiveness during and after treatment. Every prescription written by a doctor is meticulously reviewed by pharmacists before dispensing and administration to ensure safety, appropriateness and cost-effectiveness for patients.

The governance system is professionally organised, with a Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee as the governing body supported by two specialised subcommittees: Medication Safety and Antimicrobial Stewardship. Antimicrobial use in FV is in strict compliance with implemented interventions to ensure appropriate indication, maximum efficacy and limit drug resistance. Interventions include mandatory indication for all antimicrobial orders and a special prior approval for restricted antimicrobials.

According to Mr Fazli, the process must be transparent, tightly controlled, and continuously improved for the benefit of patients

Head of the Pharmacy Department and Director of Quality Management & Risk at FV Hospital, Mr Mohd Fazli Shuib, shared: “Medication management and use are a vital part of the patient care journey and must function well across the continuum of care. At FV, our goal is not only to supply safe medication but also to ensure that every process is transparent, tightly controlled, and continuously improved for the benefit of our patients.” Thanks to this closed-loop, standardised process, FV has consistently achieved near-maximum scores in the core criteria of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health’s assessment framework for many consecutive years.

The outstanding achievement of remaining in the top group of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health’s 2024 Hospital Pharmacy Quality Assessment ranking for the second consecutive year is a strong affirmation of FV’s professional capacity and a milestone in its journey of building a culture of quality and patient safety. Guided by the JCI “Gold Standard” and a commitment to continuous improvement, FV continues to strengthen its position as a leading international hospital in Vietnam, where patient health and safety are always placed at the centre of all operations.
