FV organizes the 7th ‘Give Blood – Give Hope’ program

In 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected seriously on many blood donation programs in Vietnam, especially in Ho Chi Minh City. The blood bank in the city has called for support from many sources, yet the blood shortage situation has only been partially improved.

To continue our tradition for many years and to contribute to supporting the Ho Chi Minh City Blood Bank, FV Hospital cooperated with the Hospital of Blood Transfusion Haematology Hospital to organize the 7th program “Give Blood – Give Hope”. This is also an opportunity for everyone to send a kind gesture and receive joy and good things in return before the new lunar year comes.

This programme is organised for FV staff, patients, their relatives, and everyone who meet these requirements:

Time:

  • From 7:30am – 12:00pm, Friday 21st January 2022

Location:

  • Auditorium 3rd Floor – F Building, FV Hospital

Everyone who donate blood will receive a small gift, including:

  • Travel costs of 50,000 VND/ person in cash
  • Snacks & drinks
  • Blood Donation Certificate
  • Cartons of Milk

Participants:

  • Blood donors must be between the ages of 18-60, healthy, weighing over 45 kg and not suffering from blood-borne infectious diseases or chronic or acute diseases of respiratory, circulatory…
  • People who have been vaccinated over 14 days, have normal health, and people who recover from COVID-19 after 30 days can participate in blood donation.
  • To register, please bring personal documents (ID/Passport) and fill out the registration form which is available in the blood donation area.

DO and DON’T before donating blood:

DON’T:

  • Do not stay up too late, do not drink alcohol the night before the day of blood donation.
  • Do not drive far, carry heavy loads, do heavy work or exercise too much on the day of blood collection until you feel well.

DO:

  • Blood donors must bring their identity card when going to donate blood.
  • Having snacks (low protein, low fat); and drink plenty of water (300 – 500ml) before donating blood.
  • Eat enough and drink plenty of water 24 hours after donating blood.
  • Lie down or sit down for 10 minutes after donating blood.
  • Firmly press the cotton pad where the needle was inserted for 10 minutes, keep the bandage on for 4-6 hours.
  • Lie down with your head low and your legs elevated if you feel dizzy, tired, or nauseous.
  • Apply cold towels and ice if the sting is swollen or bruised.
  • Follow the 5K principle when participating in blood donation to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus.
