“Unite for safety: clean your hands”
Hand hygiene is one of the most effective actions to reduce the spread of viruses, including the COVID-19 virus, and other pathogens. FV Hospital is responding to this year’s World Hand Hygiene Day on May 5, 2022, with the theme “HEALTH CARE QUALITY AND SAFETY CLIMATE OR CULTURE”. This year’s theme focuses on creating a safe working environment and culture by observing correct hand hygiene by washing at the right time with the right product.
When medical environment and examination space policies require proper hand hygiene and infection prevention, patients and medical staff are better protected. Therefore, every year on May 5, the World Health Organisation (WHO) promotes the global campaign “Save Lives: Clean your Hands”. On this occasion, medical practitioners around the world come together to emphasise the importance of maintaining hand hygiene, ensuring safety in healthcare and creating opportunities to bring people together.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) believes that infection prevention and control, especially hand hygiene, is very important in ensuring people everywhere can live a healthier, happier life. Many WHO studies have proven that washing hands is a small action that is extremely effective. This small action can help people avoid the risk of illness due to infection, ultimately helping to reduce medical costs. As for healthcare providers, following proper handwashing policies will help to avoid the risk of cross-contamination and the spread of respiratory and other infectious diseases in the hospital environment.
